Cell Phones for Soldiers
Mr Diaz (room 705) is collecting cellphones for the Cell Phones for Soldiers program. Students will receive 1 hour of community service for each phone they bring in. The cellphones are recycled and the funds are then used to purchase phone cards for soldiers overseas.

3rd Annual Diabetes Walk, 10/23/09, 8:30AM
In 2008, Roosevelt raised almost $9000 for the American Diabetes Association through the efforts of over 400 students, staff and community members! Pledge packets for the 2009 walk will be distributed in PE in September.
Congratulations Roosevelt Cheerleaders
The Rough Rider Cheerleaders won FIRST PLACE at the Sharp International Cheer Competition on Saturday 2/27 at the San Diego Convention Center. We competed against 8 schools. We had tons of parent support and the girls had a blast! We will be geeting a copy of the competition and pictures this week. Thank you for all of your support! - Ms Valderrama
San Diego County Honors Band/Orchestra
For the first time in 30 years, Roosevelt students have been selected to participate in the San Diego County Honors Band and Orchestra. Congratulations to Kalvin Hibi, who was chosen for 2nd violin in the Honors Orchestra. In the Honors Band we will be represented by Theresa Steinberger (clarinet), Destini Bullock (bass clarinet) and Kaelin Spender (alto sax).

All games are a Pacific Beach Middle School. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to game time. Please take in consideration traffic in and out of Pacific Beach on a Saturday.

Six Roosevelt projects were selected to participate in the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair in Balboa Park in March. There were a record number of competitors in the screening fair at Good Shepherd School, and 6 of our students had such excellent projects that they made the cut!

Expanding Your Horizons Conference
San Diego's Top Scientists will be working with female students on different science experiments and projects at the University of San Diego for FREE from 8:30-3:15. Transportation Available from Roosevelt to USD on Saturday March 6th lunch will also be provided. Registration due by 2/19/10. More information in Gear Up,Room 706
Jumping Into the News (UPDATED 2/4)
Congratulations to Roosevelt staff, students and volunteers for making the "CAHPERD Jumping Over The Record" an amazing event on February 1st. We're still waiting to find out if we helped break the world record. Special thanks to the Roosevelt PE department for organizing the event. The morning included coverage on channel 5 (KSWB Fox) and 9 (KUSI). A photograph of the event also appeared in the Tuesday Union Tribune
